ICON 2018+ Jeep Wrangler JL Body Mount Tire Carrier Kit
Safely carry up to a 40" spare tire on your Jeep Wrangler JL with the ICON Impact PRO Series Body Mounted Tire Carrier. Large spare tires can put excessive stress on the stock spare tire mount, beyond what it, and the tailgate it is attached to, was designed for. The ICON Impact Body-Mounted Tire Carrier alleviates these stresses by placing the load of the spare tire's weight almost exclusively on the reinforced rear corner section of the Jeep's body, where the tailgate attaches, rather than on the tailgate itself. The tire carrier is further strengthened by a thick steel reinforcement plate that ties the upper and lower hinge together while clamping them securely to the heavy gauge structural steel of the Jeep's inner body tub. The tailgate and the tire carrier open and close independently but tethered together with a heim joint linkage so that accessing the Jeep's rear cargo area is still a single-action process. Simply open the tailgate and the tire carrier opens with it. A Delrin alignment bushing keeps the tire carrier tightly seated when closed, for rattle-free operation. The Body Mounted Tire Carrier is fabricated entirely of CNC laser cut plate steel. The 2-way adjustable tire mount allows for safe, secure mounting of virtually any while and tire combination up to 37", with larger sizes possible with recommended extra installation step. Note that this product eliminates the stock mounting of the factory third brake light and backup camera. ICON's JL License Plate Relocation Kit (sold separately) is recommended for those who would like to locate the license plate, third brake light and backup camera at the center of the spare tire. The ICON Impact Body Mounted Tire Carrier is finished in a durable semi-gloss black multi-stage powder coat.
